Have you always fancied taking all the family away for a snowy white Christmas?  Sleigh rides, ice skating, steaming hot chocolates, skiing on Christmas Day and so much more….

This year due to Christmas falling on a Sunday, many chalets are offering 8/9/10 day holidays for the price of 7 and many are still very flexible on dates.  With the variety of arrival days, flights are very competitively priced for this peak week.  Christmas arrival days are from Saturday 17^th to Saturday 24^th December and departure dates from Monday 26^th to Friday 30^th December 2016.  Driving out can make the holiday a lot more inexpensive and flexible.

Family Christmas! 

With many chocolate box chalets still available and beautiful, enchanting ski villages to be explored; this could be the family Christmas you always dreamed of.  Christmas Day in front of log fire, opening presents with the children whilst your Chalet Chef or Host serves breakfast can be a magical way to start your day, a lovely sunny day skiing followed by a proper Christmas dinner which when not cooked by you is even better.  Take the grandparents along too and make it a proper family occasion, if they don’t ski the chalets are very warm with lovely snowy walks, cafes and they can meet you for lunch on the slopes or even help with childcare. 

So where should you go?

Obviously higher altitude resorts are better and there are plenty of them but if you are looking for a mountain village/town with lots of charm then we can recommend many resorts across the Alps. 

Zermatt will score highly on anyone’s list with the ultimate in charm, sleigh rides, amazing backdrop & snow sure skiing.  Verbier & Gstaad have lovely Swiss atmosphere but if you can’t quite afford it, La Tzoumaz on the other side of Verbier is a very good cheaper alternative.  For a perfect chocolate box Swiss village try car-free Wengen near Grindelwald.  There are many smaller villages that give great access into the larger ski areas for example in France, St Martin de Belleville is a hidden gem oozing Savoyard charisma with high speed access into the 3 Vallees.  Les Houches in Chamonix has lots of appeal for families but is not quite so high but you have access to all of Chamonix’s ski areas.

We only want 1-2 rooms!

Not everyone has a large enough family to take over a chalet and there are lots of options if you would rather share a chalet with other Christmas loving people.  There are rooms that will sleep 2, 3, 4 or more people, 2 rooms with connecting doors or even a separate annex to make life easier.  Please be aware though that many shared chalets will not take children under 2 but sometimes we can find families with under 2’s as well to share a chalet with you.
